![]() Persona 2 from the Shin Megami Tensei franchise also has the rumor mechanics that alter reality. It also explains that Rumors and legends if ingrained enough in society become reality. Okay obviously Shadowrun is going to be the first suggestion because it is readily visible to the world but it is distinct enough to be separate of technology even though since first edition it was mentioned that it has become a field of study and some mages from Aztlan have been known to use blood magic and tech.Ī more recent choice to look at it NewEdo which is a TRPG that touts to be more Samurai Punk where the consensus of humanity allows magic to exist and allowed for Yokai races to exist as flesh and blood. Supremely powerful beings prone to their own agendas, tempted by their own gifts. If the cost of magic is paid in blood and entropy then I imagine it's quite different than something like dnd where your power just resets after a good snooze. If everyone could do magic and a simple enchantment to remove stains or travel to work was within reach of most of a populace I do wonder what that world would look like. ![]() I think human curiosity is such that if magic were well known but still relatively rare that people would continue to explore the world scientifically and invent things. You could pay your local mage to send words on the wind but what do you do when the mage goes on holiday? Enterprising artificers and dedicated engineers working, sometimes collaboratively and sometimes at cross purposes, to give the power of far speech to the uninitiated. ![]() ![]() Now I'm trying to imagine the technology race to something like the telephone. ![]()
